Softball team should be strong next season

American River finished fifth in the Big 8 Conference with a record of 7-14 and 15-21 overall. With this team being so young, next season will have eight returning players ready to go. Sophomore Kari Riolo led the league with 32 hits, was second with 13 doubles, and third with 16 runs batted, in according to the Beaver Tales.

Women''s tennis

Freshmen Chloe Kuwabara and Lauren Shafer both fell early in the Ojai tournament held on Thursday, April 22. Though when it came to doubles competition, Shafer and Kuwabara made it to the second round, but fell to Santa Barbara City College 6-3, 6-1. The women fell short at the NorCals and unfortunately did not make State Championships.

Baseball

The ARC men’s baseball team lost another tough game, this time against conference rival Sacramento City College. The loss dropped the Beavers to 15-19 overall, and 6-15 in the Big 8. Pitching woes continued to be the achilles’ heel for ARC, as starter Scotty Grunert gave up four walks and ten hits.

Football players headed to four-year schools

After a successful football season, 12 ARC players have signed letters of intent to go on to play for Div. I and Div. II teams. Cornerback Ryan Davis signed with Div. IAA Western Illinois and another defensive back, Alex corner, signed with Div.
