My name is Taylor; I am one of your fellow ARC Christian students. I just came across your article called "A Christian wonders, ‘Where's the love?'" (March 3 issue by Kelsey Wehsels).
It is very apparent that the Christian lifestyle has taught you to love, as you should. You are right that Jesus lived among the sinners and showed them love regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation or even if they were a big walking banana. It didn't matter to him, but I think your missing the big picture.
On behalf of their sins (age and race is not a sin), Jesus was tolerating them. Why? It states in the Bible, "He lived among the sinners because the sinners are the ones who needed saving," He was not among them because he believed that what they where doing was all right based on the "love thy neighbor" law...yeah, throw on a rainbow t-shirt, and remember Sodom and Gomorrah! Almost the whole city was gay and they where singed from the earth!
Keep up the love, I can tell from your article that you have a lot of it, but remember that there is a big difference between tolerating someone's sins so that you might have the chance to bring them to God and save their souls, and believing their sins are all right because of your kindness.
Great article, keep up the good work!

It seems you have a very medieval way of thinking. The Bible was not meant to be taken literally and it was created for people of that time by men who were trying to control a population. It created a mold for people to try to fit in, but let's face the truth, we are not mindless robots and we cannot all be alike. Sure the Bible is a beautiful book with many great teachings, but the stories in the Bible are only metaphors for us now. You are damning people simply because they don't fit your special, literal Bible mold. And are you not American? Hello, equality and justice for everyone. People are going to do what they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you decide to become Hitler all over again, but we don't need another one of those. If you just accept things instead of trying to change them, you might live a happier life. Just try to crank your mind open a little wider, please.
This is a rare instance where I can not be tolerant. Not of the sins you mentioned, but of the one that you should be more direct in calling out. That is the sin of rampant radical liberalism. It's ignorance will be the destuction of our blessed nation. Satan will divide and polarize us through these fools that have been conditioned to follow the whim of their favorite political heroes in an effort do whatever is cool. Each one of the few liberals that actually read this response will instantly and inexplicably think that I am a bigot and a racist. Why Liberal? Conditioning. Think about it.
Angry?
Flippant?
Think some more.
