I read the article by RA McKay about conservatives being racist.  As a conservative myself, I can say that the whole article was a disgrace.  The writer derides Fox News as openly racist, yet provides no evidence.  Recently on MSNBC, one of the commentators referred to a Cuban-American Republican senatorial candidate in Florida as a "coconut"(which is a racist term).  Also back during the special election in Massachusetts, another commentator on MSNBC made repeated obscene references about candidate Scott Brown(saying he's a teabagger, racist, and that he supports violence against women).  The commentator didn't provide ANY evidence as to why he called him those things.  The writer also tagged Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement as being racist, which again he DID NOT put down any evidence as to why she or the movement are racist.  She and the Tea Party movements are critizing Obama because of his POLICIES, not because of the color of his skin.  While Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott have checkered pasts(Thurmond in particular), what about Democratic senators Harry Reid and Robert Byrd?  Reid recently said that Obama was "light skinned" and has "no Negro dialect", which is clearly racist.  Byrd was a former member of the KuKlux Klan, which as you know was a group that wanted to kill blacks.
