Have you ever dreamed of being America's Next Top Model? Here's a chance to be American River Colleges top model. The Fashion Studio 505 will be holding a model call March 25 in the ARC costume shop room 554 located in the Theatre Arts Department, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. There will be a need for at least 80 models to strut the runway, women being required to bring three-inch heels to the audition.
The designers are looking for men, women and children of all ages, shapes and sizes. "Just because you don't have the average model look, don't sell your self short," says Marcus Palma, a fashion design major at ARC and one of the featured designers.
For individuals that are selected for the runway, they will attend a model workshop in order to learn proper runway and model etiquette. There will also be a model competition so if you plan to work the runway, be sure to do your best.
The show will feature 13 designers with styles including 1940's film noir to a bohemian style. Each designer will have at least five selections to show off, with one design required to be a repurposed item. "All the students are very unique; I'm excited about the potential and creativity of this class," Diane Grant-Toscano, Fashion Professor
If you are an aspiring model or just think you'll enjoy being a live display for beautifully hand crafted clothing, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to gain modeling experience while affording local designers a chance to build their portfolio with you in it.
For those who aren't comfortable modeling, don't forget to go support your local fashion designers and models at the Fine Arts Festival May 6 at ARC. The featured designs will be available for purchase after the show.
