The Web site, www.chatroulette.com is the new addiction of choice for Web users. It disguises itself as a site to interact and meet new people, but it is nothing more than an online horror show.
The premise is simple: Go to the site with webcam ready, read and agree to the terms of service, press play and prepare to be connected with other users. These connections are completely random and the person on the other side could be male or female. If you don’t like what you see on the other side, just hit the next button at the top of the screen. The roulette starts over again.
After seeing numerous reports on this trendy site, I decided to investigate it to see if it was legit. I did not stay long as I was treated to a steady stream of male body parts and in one case, an unattractive couple having sex.
The terms of service are a joke; there is no enforcement of the sites rules at all. The constant stream of nudity is proof of this. You have to be 16 to enter the site, but who is checking this? I hit the next button almost 50 times and in some cases, saw kids probably not older than 13.
Pedophiles of the world are probably elated over the creation of this site.
